B&S Blue Label Tenor serial number ?

Can somebody tell me about this blue label tenor made by B&S for Kawai ? The neck, bow and bell seems different than the early blue labels.

Hello,

You are absolutely right - this is not a "standard" Blue Label horn.
It was made after the German Re-Union.

In order to give you more details, I would like to see additional photos showing the full saxophone, one from each side.
Could be model Series 1000, Series 2001 or even Dave Guardala etc.
Let's see.

The keys looks same as the earlier blue label with ribbed construction. The bell and bow has a narrower bore than the earlier blue labels. And the neck has a different taper.

It plays nice with a more modern feel than the original blue labels.

Ok, now it's clear.

The "Blue Label" saxophones were two models, an early and a late one. Your Kawai Tenor is the Late Model.
This line was built from 1985 to ~1994, which should be the manufacturing year for your Tenor.

Compare the following pics - both show late models. The only difference for me is the missing key protection for CIS.
And maybe the shape/contour of left and right pinky tables.

In the past, I thought that the Weltklang evolved into the Series 1000 and the "Blue Labels" evolved into the Series 2001.
But not sure, yet.

How can we find out? I own an early Series 2001 Tenor. The serial number delta to yours is ~500.
If you know what to measure, let's do a small investigation / comparison of the major measurements.
In case my assumption is correct, the body of your sax an my Tenor should be the same.

Hallo,

ich habe schon seit einigen Jahren ein B&S Tenor Saxophon. Ich habe es vor ca. 15 Jahren gebraucht bei einem Händler gekauft, jedoch kenne ich nicht das wirkliche Alter des Instruments.
Das Saxophon hat auch ein blau hinterlegtes Markenlogo von B&S und die Seriennummer 04543.

Ich würde mich über eine Rückmeldung zum Produktionsdatum freuen.

Bin gerade unterwegs und kann nicht nachschauen. Zur Konkretisierung vorab ein paar Bitten:
Ist die SN wirklich 04543, oder doch 4543?
In beiden Fällen hätte ich gerne Bilder von der Seriennummer und von beiden Seiten des Saxophons.
Erst dann ist eine Altersbestimmung für mich möglich.

vielen Dank für die schnelle Rückmeldung.
Leider habe ich das Instrument gerade nicht zu Hause. Es ist zur Reparatur und ich hoffe es in wenigen Wochen zurück zubekommen.
Ich habe im Moment kein Foto von der SN, daher werde ich mich melden, sobald ich das Sax wieder in den Händen halte.

Guten Abend,

Ich bin nun auch stolze Besitzerin eines Tenorsaxophons mit einem blauen Label von B&S.
Meine Seriennummer ist 1217. Mir wurde gesagt, dass es in den frühen Siebzigern gebaut wurde.
Ich habe hier gesehen, dass man ziemlich genaue Daten, sogar mit dem Monat der Herstellung erfahren kann. Von daher die Frage, wann wurde die Seriennummer 1217 gebaut?

Hallo Tanja,

wie schon öfter mal geschrieben, gibt es von B&S zwei Baureihen für Alto und auch für Tenor, die zeitlich getrennt sind.
Um zu unterscheiden, benötige ich ein paar Bilder vom Saxophon. Linke und rechte Seite reichen. Danke.
