Musima, Migma, Marma ???

Beitrag von Big Beat »

Pardon for writing in English, I don't speak German. But maybe someone can answer.
I want to ask about these 3 brands of guitars made in Markneukirchen.

1. I know that in each case "ma" stands for Markneukirchen. I also know about the meaning of the Musima acronym. What does "Mig" and "Mar" stand for in Migma and Marma?

2. Was there any relationship between these 3 brands? Were they just made in the same town and used some of the same parts suppliers? Or were they all part of some bigger company/organization, made in the same factories, etc.? Some designs look similar, for example Musima Elektra and Migma Elektra models are very similar, have the same name. Confusing!

3. Were Migma amd Marma ever officially exported to the USSR too, or just Musima? Any history about this?

Thank you.

Hello Big Beat,

MUSIMA means MUSikinstrumentenbau MArkneukirchen this was a VEB that means Volkseigener Betrieb and this VEB exist from 1953-1990 and after the official entry of the DDR into the Federal Republic of Germany on 3 October 1990 the Name turns to Musima GmbH and it exists till 2004!

Now the old factory (In Wolhausen) looks like a ghosttown! :unknow:

MIGMA eG means Musikinstrumenten-Handwerker-Genossenschaft Markneukirchen
Schützenstrasse 27
08258 Markneukirchen
Germany
49-37422-2341
+49-37422-2342
info@migma-eg.de
http://www.migma-eg.de

Migma still exists!

MARMA means Musikhaus am Rhein in Mainz later Marma settle in Markneukirchen and called MARMA Musikindustrie Karl Bauer KG Markneukirchen (its really funny that MAinz and MArkneukirchen have the same beginning with MA :pleasantry: )

All these companys have relationships and using same subcontract manufactorer für their hardwarre, some inlays and elektrik parts!

I have photos from Migma and the old Musima factorys but i have problems with the upload! Maby later!!! :pardon:

Dear Foreigner :rose:

I´m an old GDR Native, but not from Markneukirchen.

You must know a few things about Sozialism, GDR and Handcrafters:

In later GDR was a handcrafter not wellcome. He was a Kapitalist and maked money for himself. This was not the idea from Sozialism.
Many, many handcrafters from all professions musted sales her products with from the government controlled prices to state-owned Distributors. This Distributors was not produced one thing at himself.

In example one of this state-owned Distributors was Migma or Musima.

At first was these distributors a coalition from any/many handcrafters.Later than became these distributors state-owned.

Oh my lord, my english....

Best regards

Norbert
