Hi,
It's often said and assumed both here and some other websites that Edelklang was a brand used by Otto Windisch around the '20s for mandolins and guitar-lutes. But this mandolin and a circa 1920 Johannes Adler catalog tell a different story.
Does anyone know what's the truth about this brand? Was Adler both a builder and a trader? Did he bought stuff from Windisch? Was Windisch not related to the Edelklang brand in any way and it was actually an Adler brand? Any of them bought the brand from the other one at a given time? Just coincidence and there was two Edelklang branded instruments?
Any hint will be welcome.
Edelklang

Re: Edelklang
Hi Paco,
Johannes Robert Adler born 30.07.1899 Markneukirchen died 06.05.1963!
They were traders and the only instruments they build in the 20th were flutes later since 1937 violins too. They formed on 2.1.1924 in Markneukirchen as a trading company.
In my opinion they get the mando from Otto Windisch!

Re: Edelklang
Ok. Thanks, Stefan. I'm asking because I have pictures of some Adler guitars that don't look like any old Windisch guitar I know. They might be from any other maker.
Well, knowing old guitars implies continuous searching, which is fun. So let's keep on searching.
